1962

The story begins in Cornwall, UK when Maybridge Chemical Company was founded in Tintagel by the organic chemist, Dr. R. J. Bridgwater. The company is named after his wife Gladys MAY BRIDG(E)water.

1971

The company moved to its present location at Trevillett, at that time the site of a disused slate quarry, in an area of outstanding natural beauty in North Cornwall.

1997

Dr. Bridgwater sold the business to venture capitalists 3i plc in a Management Buy-In/Buy-Out transaction headed by Dr. Roger Newton.

2002

Maybridge was acquired by Fisher Scientific International.

Although much has changed since the formation of the company, chemistry at Maybridge is still based on the search for bioactive molecules.
