Under funding from the US Department of Energy’s Inventions and Innovations Program, we have developed a novel, high-throughput, high resolution and non-destructive system to image and characterize plant roots.

This is the most exciting new development in plant root research since the invention of the rhizotron. Unlike a rhizotron, our system allows for full surface to root tip visualization of all roots. Since our system is non-destructive the same plant can be imaged at different times in its developmental growth cycle. Additionally the same plant can be monitored for plant root system response to stressors.
