Over the past decade, we have expanded our manufacturing capabilities to include a full line of disposable electrosurgical electrodes in blade, ball, needle, loop and laparoscopic form. The reusable ES pencils, with a full compliment of reusable electrodes and bipolar forceps, enhance our ever-expanding line of products.

The patent-pending MEG? laparoscopic hand instrument line, developed at our Bovie Canada facility, is an innovative modular and ergonomic alternative to traditional laparoscopic instruments. It began its introduction in Europe under a CE mark. With recent approval from the FDA, the product is now being offered in the U.S.

In addition to electrosurgery, Bovie Medical is the number-one producer of battery-operated cauteries in the world. Its product lines, distribution channels, and renowned industry reputation continue to grow.

The company now also manufactures a line of replaceable battery and tip cauteries, known as Change-A-Tip?. We manufacture a variety of specialty products, such as nerve locators, lighted stylets, and corneal rust ring removers, the bulk of which follow the battery operated, tubular manufacturing process.

The Past

The company began in the late 1970s as a manufacturer of disposable penlights for the medical industry. The success of this line prompted the development and manufacturing of battery-operated, tubular products, with the same type of assembly manufacturing technologies. The new line of cauteries was also a success.

Good design and manufacturing combined with smart marketing and excellent customer service moved the company forward. To increase market visibility in the medical industry by being listed first in directories, the company changed its name to Aaron Medical industries in the 1980s.

Early on, and just as important today, the company felt strongly about cost-controlled and easy consumer product access. “Dedicated to Distribution?” was not only Aaron’s registered slogan, but a dedication to its valued distributors who exclusively sold and supported Aaron’s diverse line of products. This dedication continues.

Throughout the 1980s, Aaron sought continuous improvements in the basic design of the battery-operated cautery and is the only company in the country that has continued to engineer cautery improvements. One such superior cautery product received its US patent #5,688,265 on 11/18/97.

As the company grew, and requests from the industry drove Aaron’s design and development teams to manufacture and distribute additional quality products, Aaron Medical purchased the legendary Bovie name and product line from Maxxim Medical in 1998.
