Using its patented PhysioLab technology, Entelos develops dynamic large-scale computer models of human disease. Each PhysioLab platform provides a framework for integrating data (e.g., genomic, proteomic, physiologic, environmental) in the context of a disease or therapeutic area, focusing on understanding and determining clinical responses to potential treatment. Virtual patients are created within this framework to represent real patient subpopulations. Using a PhysioLab platform, scientists create virtual patients and simulate experiments and clinical trials in silico (in computer) that could take months or years to do in the laboratory or clinic, increasing the productivity of the drug discovery and development process. Entelos provides integrated expertise in the areas of metabolism and cardiovascular function, immunology and inflammation, and respiratory function. Entelos currently has PhysioLab platforms available for use by multiple customers in the areas of asthma, obesity, type 1 and type 2 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, and cholesterol metabolism. The Company is developing models for use in cardiovascular and skin sensitization (skin allergy) applications, and plans to develop PhysioLab systems in such other areas as metabolic syndrome, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), osteoporosis, and Alzheimer's disease.
