HSW – the success story has its origins in 'medical technology'.
The success story began in 1923 when Georg Andreas Henke established a company in the sector of medical technology. The first products were manufactured in a small cellar in Tuttlingen, the town that has developed into the internationally well-known location for many renowned companies in medical technology.

The founder Henke led his young company with competence, skill and the visionary entrepreneurial spirit through a difficult time in the first years of the company's history. With the boom in the 1950s – as part of the ‘economic miracle’, the company's development then progressed rapidly.

In 1956, the factory building in the Kronenstra?e in Tuttlingen was acquired. This was until mid of 2008 the headquarters of Henke-Sass, Wolf. With the business idea ‘Production of syringes and cannulas’, Georg A. Henke opted for a market niche that has proven itself with long-term, constant growth.

Georg A. Henke proved his feeling for another niche of the future with the acquisition of the Berlin endoscopy producer Sass-Wolf in 1960. A visionary decision!

In 1965, the American mixed conglomerate Litton Industries took over the management of the company for a decade.

In 1976, a new era began with the purchase of HSW by the current company owner, Jochen Busch. The modern alignment of the company’s structures by the Busch family and the rigorous continuation of the strategy of concentrating on the areas of medical endoscopy, the production of syringes and cannulas sets new energies free. And even more: Further areas were developed as part of today’s Vet-line and Tec-line. The consistent know-how transfer for product solutions in many areas of medicinal technology and industry gets underway.

This is followed in 1991 by the establishment of the sales and service subsidiary HSW of America. This was an important step in the expansion of the international sales and service structure.

With the regard to technology, another expertise building block was added with the acquisition of the leading micro-optics manufacturer Nolte & Grzeszik in 1997 that cements the innovative strength within the company group.

In 1994, another plant in Poland was established, Henke-Sass, Wolf Sp. Z o o. Polska to meet the economic requirements of the market in the long term too. What’s more, the location benefits in Poland are ideal to make use of new opportunities on the Eastern European markets.

In the plant at Tuttlingen-M?hringen, there is state-of-the-art machinery for the production of high-quality components and instruments for the medical technology, veterinary medicine and measurement and control technology sectors.

The company Henke-Sass, Wolf Medical Instruments (Qingdao) Ltd. was set up in 2006 as a production site dedicated to labor-intensive tasks. Furthermore, this production site also offers the service of the HSW products in the Asiatic region.

In June 2008, we have moved into our newly constructed facility. In the Gaensaecker Industrial zone, we have added 9000 square meters (=97000 square feet) of bright, ultra-modern workspace to our existing facility, which we had been utilizing for several years. In doing this, HSW looks optimistically into the future, for the new construction is designed for growth. In addition to the current workforce of about 330 employees, another 100 could easily be added without running into space limitations.
