When Harald G?ritz (an electrical engineer) and Klaus Noack (a chemist) founded GONOTEC GmbH in 1979, they could not possibly imagine that their target to develop, produce and market analytical measuring instruments for medical and chemical applications would be as successful as it turned out to be.

It all started with the GONOTEC’S “classic” OSMOMAT 030. This was a cryoscopic osmometer for clinical applications. At the first exhibitions, Klaus Noack was surprised by the great degree of interest and acceptance. It was immediately necessary to expand the production facility to manage the increased demand for the osmometer. The osmometer, which featured ease of use, resulted in an ever increasing number of sales.

Inspired by this success, the OSMOMAT 040 was developed to broaden the osmometer product line for medical applications. While the market, which included intensive care units, was not as large as for the OSMOMAT 030, this instrument contributed to the following further success of GONOTEC osmometers. At this point GONOTEC was no longer the newcomer in the market, but now known as a reliable company with excellent products and service.

The increasing success of the medical osmometer line led to the development of the chemical osmometer line, so that all requirements for osmometer applications could be satisfied by one company. The main target of the development were instruments for the determination of molar masses based on osmotic parameter for the chemical application and at the same time an easy handling for the user.

The three osmometers, vapor pressure osmometer OSMOMAT 070, membrane osmometer OSMOMAT 090 and cryoscopic osmometer OSMOMAT 010 complement one another due to their different measuring methods in the determination of the range of molecular masses up to 2,000,000 Dalton.

When the general management of GONOTEC was taken over by Mr. Jan Celinsek in 2001, the now well established company was given to a person who very closely involved with establishing GONOTEC's quality standards.

With his introduction to the daily business of a general manager, a number of things changed within GONOTEC. As an example, the company’s philosophy was summed up in one sentence “We are the osmometer people”. since 1991. Starting as a student, Jan Celinsek became more and more involved in the field of development and improvement of the internal components of the systems.

The most valuable resource GONOTEC always had was its permanent staff. When an individual starts to work for GONOTEC and stays with the company, they are proud of the work they are doing. The success of the company is due to their efforts, and as a result the company is constantly improving the product quality.

The relationship applies for the numerous dealers in all parts of the world. The co-operation between the agents and GONOTEC is excellent and constant training at the company headquarters improves this special relationship between agent and manufacturer. GONOTEC products deserve the description “Made in Germany”, as the whole production is in one facility making it easy for visitors to see an osmometer from the very beginning to its finishing and perfect functioning.

In 2003 the latest model of the osmometer family was launched to the market. The OSMOMAT auto, which is distinguished by extreme reliability and easy handling, fits in perfectly into the already known GONOTEC osmometer line.
